At The Coffee Shop
Watching you watch me
through the panes of glass.
Your interest intrigues me.
Staring over your coffee cup
from the cab of the truck.
Subtly trying to be subtle.
Without success.
I hear the register ringing,
my change singing
as I pay.
You drive away.
Slowly. Eyes following.
Hinting excitement
of what could be.
Coffee steaming, energizing.
My mind rhythms to a new beat.
There shouldn’t be a dance,
but Im so tempted...
In my new found selfishness.
My character put to the test.
Not passing.
A pause of low morality.
I blame it on the caffeine.
I should look the other way
And keep the glass between.
